A huge thank you Salome Mare-Walsh, after five years as the MECN Chair, Salome has stepped down. Salome has been inspirational, passionate and has made such a huge difference to the MECN and the Trust.
Read Salome's leaving speech and watch the video she made as she reflects on her time as Chair.
We now have now elected a new Chair and Vice Chair.
Solomon Gwatidzo, Chair
Solomon completed his nurse training in 2004 and has worked in various roles on our inpatient wards, the specialist community forensic team and he is now a senior clinical nurse in Mental Health Care Division. Solomon has a passion for helping to drive and deliver equality, diversity and inclusion and hopes to make a positive impact and help the Trust to achieve zero acceptance of racism, discrimination, and unacceptable behaviours in our workplace.
Roderick Thebe, Vice Chair
Roderick is a charge nurse at Ashworth High Secure Hospital and has worked for the Trust for more than 20 years. His life experiences have given him the self-confidence for this additional role, and Roderick is keen to see the MECN grow professionally and for staff to feel genuinely supported, valued, and treated equally as members of Mersey Care family.
Solomon and Roderick hope that together they can influence real change and drive the Anti-racism perfect goal in not just words, but within practice. They will continue to build a stronger and more vibrant staff network promoting a safe space for members to discuss issues that matter most and celebrate successes.
