Earlier this week, Mersey Care received an award for undertaking the NHS Confederation / NHS Employers Diversity and Inclusion Partners programme for 2023 to 2024. This programme runs annually and is a comprehensive development programme helping organisations advance equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) in the workplace.

Delivered through a year-long series of events, it included a virtual session for Board members on the strategic business case for EDI, four face-to-face interactive modules and specialist virtual masterclasses, and was designed around and reflects the ambitions and requirements of the NHS Long Term Workforce Plan and NHS EDI Improvement Plan.

The programme also provided an arena for the Trust’s progressive EDI work to be shared with other NHS organisations around anti-racism and reasonable adjustments in the workplace.
