December's Employee of the Month winner is Jacqui Logan from the Adult Community Hub (Baird House) - Liverpool. Jacqui was nominated by Helen Reynolds for the value of Support.
Jacqui is a team secretary but, in my opinion, she goes above and beyond her role.
She is the "go to" person whenever there is an issue that nobody else can solve. She willingly fills in when others are off sick and has been doing the admin for my MDT most weeks for some time whilst our regular team sec is sick. She supports the trainees when they arrive with their IOD, laptops etc and is a reliable "go to" for them. Over the last few weeks, though, and the reason for nomination at this point in time, is she has sorted out various significant housekeeping issues including smashed windows, a major flood in the building and malfunctioning toilets. This morning she has spent most of her time mopping floors, unblocking toilets and ringing plumbers. I find her to be approachable, flexible and so accommodating and feels she deserves recognition for all she does.
All of the above means the clinical staff an get on with their jobs and she ensures things run smoothly. A lot of what she does probably goes on behind the scenes. she seems to do the jobs that are in nobody's job description.
December's Team of the Month winner is the Mental Health Triage and Response Team. The team was nominated by Stuart Billington for the value of Support.
We have set up a newly formed service to assist with the management and overall process of S136. We identified that the current processes, managing S136 and the increase in both numbers of and complexities needed to be addressed. Previously, patients detained under S136 would potentially touch all parts of the UC service line. There was no consistency in approach and the opening of the Trusts identified Places of Safety was agreed as a priority moving forward. We have created a team that will be an extension of the existing Streetcar Triage service that will operationalise the MCFT Places of Safety and mobilise staff across the relevant areas inc AED's to support the process. We have MH Pracs based within Hollins Park and Prenton suite providing the oversight and co-ordination of the S136's. The suites are readily available to receive patients and we are working closely with both Cheshire and Merseyside Police.
The professionals line is being managed by the same staff providing expert, timely S136 consultation to Police. They will identify a PoS and agree a plan to mobilise staff and receive a handover from Police. The new service has received positive feedback from Police, AED, Acute Hospital managers, patients and family members. Patients are being moved into a therapeutic MH based Place of safety as soon as we are able to. Police are being relieved to carry out other Police duties and S136 assessments are being completed in a more suitable environment. Patients have fed back that they are being cared for and supported by MH staff in a more appropriate setting. Families have reported their satisfaction with the process and that we are not 'criminalising MH' by having Police remain for long periods. The Police are reporting a smoother, more streamlined approach in which officers are handing over patients to MH staff and not spending prolonged periods of time in AED's.
