As you know, the Royal Liverpool Hospital has declared a critical incident amid the rise in Flu and respiratory infection cases. Other hospitals in our region are also experiencing significant pressures due to high demand for services combined with staff sickness absence.

I would like to remind you that our seasonal vaccination offer - specifically Flu vaccine, is still available to everyone in the Trust.

Vaccines are a vital tool in our defence against public health outbreaks. It’s critical that as many people as possible are vaccinated to make sure we protect ourselves, our families, our patients and service users, from becoming seriously ill and increasing the pressure on NHS services.

Flu infection rates have risen significantly throughout December and this trend is continuing into January, at levels not seen for many years. Currently, only 32% of our colleagues have opted for a Flu vaccination and these low levels of protection increase the risks for everyone.

I urge you to come forward and speak to the vaccination team for advice if you have any queries or concerns around vaccines, you can contact them at: vaccinations@merseycare.nhs.uk

The team’s providing clinics across Maghull Health Park, V7 and Hollins Park, with walk-ins or bookable appointments available depending on which site you attend. All the details can be found here: Vaccinations :: YourSpace Mersey Care

If you have a team of six people or more who need vaccination, please email the vaccination team for a bespoke clinic at your base.

Please note: COVID-19 vaccinations will end 31 January and Flu vaccinations will end 31 March.
