This procedure determines the steps to be taken regarding the recording and disposal of unidentifiable and suspected illicit substances. Failure to follow this procedure may expose Trust staff to the risk of criminal prosecution for handling or supplying an illicit substance.

MAPPA are the statutory arrangements for managing sexual and violent offenders. MAPPA is not a statutory body but is a mechanism through which agencies can better discharge their statutory responsibilities and protect the public in a coordinated manner. Agencies always retain their full statutory responsibilities and obligations. The relationship between MAPPA and mental health services are well documented, this protocol seeks to enhance the guidance by identifying local and Trust arrangements

This procedure determines which processes should be followed routinely to transport medicines within and outside of the Trust, which processes should be followed to transfer medicines within the Trust and processes that must be followed when a patient collects their medication. It also provides guidance for exceptional circumstances when medicines cannot be transported in accordance with the Trust’s routine processes.

This Policy has been developed to ensure that payments received by Trust staff from Commercial companies as a result from their involvement in a Commercially Funded research project, are received and managed in accordance with Department of Health and Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust financial management procedures.

Leave of absence for patients detained under the Mental Health Act 1983 (as amended) is authorised by Section 17.

Reflection Guidance

This procedure provides colleagues and managers with information and guidance on dealing with incorrect payments to our colleagues.

The purpose of this policy is to provide information and guidance to Mersey Care NHS Trust directors, managers and staff on their responsibilities concerning mask fit testing at work.

This procedure aims to guide those involved in the use of Section 136 of the Mental Health Act 1983 (amended 2007) as to what action ought to be taken to meet the statutory requirements imposed by the legislation, and to promote good practice as laid down in the Code of Practice, specifically Chapter 16 in relation to police powers and places of safety.

This policy applies to all clinical staff including permanent and temporary staff employed by the Trust. The policy also applies to students, bank and locum staff, contracted staff and volunteers. Every healthcare professional in the Trust must be open and honest with patients when care or treatment does not go as planned and which causes, or has the potential to cause, harm or distress. Engagement with those affected by a patient safety incident will be managed compassionately and on an individualised basis.
