Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA) were designed to protect the public from serious harm by sexual and violent offenders. They require local criminal justice agencies and other bodies dealing with offenders to work together in partnership in dealing with these offenders. Mersey Care NHS Trust, as an identified Duty to Co-operate agency is required to work with the Responsible Authority (police, probation, prison) to ensure the risks posed by specified sexual and violent offenders are assessed and managed appropriately.
