The purpose of this procedure is to minimise risk associated with prescribing preparation, administration and disposal of injectable medicines and to ensure compliance with the National Patient safety Agency (NPSA) Patient Safety Alert 20 'Promoting Safer Use of Injectable Medicines'

This SOP sets out the context of Section 117 in Mersey Care detailing the process associated with its operational delivery to support relevant Local Social Services Authority (LSSA) and Integrated Care Boards (formerly Clinical Commissioning Groups).

The purpose of this policy is to provide information and guidance to Mersey Care NHS Trust directors, managers and staff on their responsibilities concerning health and safety at work.
