Now the colder weather has arrived, we can see a rise in respiratory type infections like Influenza and COVID-19.

Every member of staff has the opportunity to get vaccinated and help prevent the spread of these viruses within the Trust. Our vaccination team are offering clinics to facilitate this - however COVID-19 vaccinations will only be available to staff until 20 December, so this is your last chance to take up this offer.

Vaccination uptake across the Trust has been disappointingly low this season, and with less people getting vaccinated, and more social events due to the festive season, there is a real risk of high infection rates this winter. While these infections can be a nasty inconvenience to most of us, they can be life threatening to others.

The vaccines take approximately two weeks to provide the required immune response and as such, should not be delayed unnecessarily.

Visit YourSpace to view all our available clinics from now until the end of the year – we’re accepting bookings and walk-ins at multiple sites.

Like the annual Influenza vaccine, the COVID-19 vaccines have been tweaked to deal with any prominent new strains and have changed for this year’s vaccination campaign. Uptake for Influenza vaccines is higher than for COVID-19 vaccines – however, both are necessary.

If you have any questions regarding the vaccination programme, please contact the vaccine centre on 0151 473 2812 or email: vaccinations@merseycare.nhs.uk. Teams of six or more staff requiring vaccination can arrange a clinic at your base, at a time and date to suit.

So don’t delay, time is running out – please visit YourSpace for clinics, FAQs and myth busting advice.
