Freedom to Speak Up (FTSU) training has been approved as part of the Trust wide mandatory/role specific offer and has been introduced from October 21. This will now be reflected on each staff members learning matrix on ESR as new training to be completed. The training package is divided into three levels and is delivered via e-learning with a three yearly refresher period – initially, this will be recorded as new training as to not affect the overall compliance rate of the organisation. Further details are available on YourSpace

Speak Up (Level one): This is core mandatory training for all colleagues including volunteers, students and those in training, regardless of their contract terms and covers what speaking up is and why it matters. It will help learners understand how to speak up and what to expect when they do.

Listen Up (Level two): Role specific mandated training for all band six and above and is focussed more on listening up and the barriers that can get in the way of speaking up.

Follow Up (Level three): This will be introduced at a later date and isn’t currently available. Role specific mandated training aimed at all senior leaders including executive and non-executive directors (and equivalents), lay-members and governors to help them understand their role in setting the tone for a good speaking up culture and how speaking up can promote organisational learning and improvement.

Colleagues will be enrolled onto level one and two during October with level three to be introduced later.
