Microsoft Teams allows information to be shared effectively and quickly allowing different users and services, including external organisations, to collaborate on documents and information shared. However, consideration always needs to be given to the security and confidentiality of such information.

Staff are reminded that person confidential data (PCD) can be shared via channels on Microsoft Teams but any such channels must be private, secured and restricted to only relevant staff. This may include staff external to the Trust where necessary. Guidance on Microsoft Teams is available here.

In line with Data Protection legislation and Caldicott Principles, the use of person confidential data on Microsoft Teams and channels must be kept to the minimum necessary for the purpose in question.

If you have any further questions or concerns about these issues, please contact the Information Governance Team at IG@merseycare.nhs.uk.
