In line with continued efforts to improve patient contact details, NHS England will shortly begin contacting a small number of patients with out of date contact details via the NHS App to request that they update their information.

The NHS uses a patient’s details to contact them about their healthcare, so it’s important that we have up-to-date contact information. By turning on notifications in the NHS app, patients can receive instant messages in relation to upcoming appointments. By following a few simple steps, patients can update their email address and mobile number, helping to eliminate bounce back messages and reduce the number of missed appointments.

Anyone can check and update their contact details in the NHS App at any time. NHSE will be contacting a small number of patients for whom they have inaccurate details and there is no need for patients to take any action unless they are prompted to do so.
