From September 2022, there will be a phased period of preparation for secondary care providers ahead of completing the transition from the existing Serious Incident Framework, see the attached document.
Secondary care organisations are required to develop and publish their own patient safety incident response policy and plan. This includes establishing the organisation’s local patient safety incident profile and reviewing existing improvement work, to identify areas that will benefit most from learning responses, to maximise opportunities for improvement.
The framework has been developed following widespread consultation and informed by the experience of early adopters who piloted an introductory version of PSIRF from March 2020 to June 2022. Further information can be found on YourSpace.
