The Liberty Protection Safeguards (LPS) will replace the current Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) system. While an implementation date for LPS has not yet been announced, all clinical staff should be aware of the future changes that will be introduced by the Mental Capacity (Amendment) Act 2019.
The National Clinical Reference Group for LPS has prepared a short animation which presents an overview of the changes and aims to help colleagues become more familiar with this topic.
