From 1 May our IAPT services are being renamed NHS Talking Therapies as part of a national rebranding exercise. This will see all Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) services using the same name across the country by the end of 2023.

Following an extensive national consultation process NHS Talking Therapies was voted the most accessible name, and the easiest one to understand, by a wide range of staff, charities, patients and the general public. It will be accompanied with a tagline ‘for anxiety and depression’, to provide clarity on what conditions the service is for and to support appropriate referrals.

Work is happening around the trust to change our service names and we should now use the term Talking Therapies rather than IAPT for our services.

We would like to ask for your support in updating information referring to IAPT, and in promoting NHS Talking Therapies within your networks.

We provide NHS Talking Therapies in Halton, Knowsley, Liverpool and St Helens. Find out more about our services here: Talking Therapies at Mersey Care
