"It gives me great pleasure to write this email to you all today and announce that:

Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust have micro-eliminated hepatitis C!

I am sure you will join me in saying a massive congratulations to the individuals in these teams as they have worked incredibly hard to get to this point. So many individuals across multiple organisations have made this happen, however, this requires a particularly special thank you to Hayley Curran from Brook Place as she has been incredibly committed to making this a reality.

The impact of Hayley's work (and her drive to encourage the team awareness and proactive response) will no doubt save lives, reduce stigma, and make the national goal of elimination of Hep C possible."

June's Team of the Month winner is Walton District Nursing Team. The team was nominated by Jacqueline Herbert for the value of Enthusiasm.

Amanda Cooney and her team have recently been looking after a young lady that was terminally ill and receiving end of life care. This was a particularly very sad and complex case. They have gone above and beyond to ensure the patient’s wishes were met throughout her journey. Managing complex symptoms and achieving the goals and all along giving outstanding care. Compassion, Respect shown throughout and also support for one another.

The outstanding care that the patient received enabled her to remain at home with her family and her young baby. They developed a trusting relationship with the patient and the family. The family were understandably anxious about their loved one being at home when things became complex, but the outstanding care, respect and compassion given to the patient and family demonstrated to the family that her care would be manageable at home as she wished.

This resulted in the patient passing away at home with all her loved ones around her.
