The UK government is testing its Emergency Alerts service on Sunday 23 April 2023 at 3pm. This service will warn you if there is a life-threatening emergency nearby. In an emergency, you should follow the instructions in the alert to keep yourself and others safe. Visit GOV.UK for more information.

It has been highlighted the risk that this may pose to those who are experiencing Domestic Abuse and may have a secret or secondary phone. The National Domestic Abuse Charity Refuge has developed an easy guide on how to turn them off – Managing Emergency Alerts on your phone to stay safe if you're experiencing domestic abuse. Please see the video below.

For anyone worried about being put at risk due to the Emergency Alert and are scared of their partner, Refuge has a 24/7 helpline of support either by phone 0808 2000 247 or on their website.
