For qualified staff in Local, Secure and Specialist Learning Disabilities and Community Divisions

From 1 July 2022 the full day Immediate Life Support (ILS) resus training will be changing to both online and a face to face course.

This blended learning requires colleagues to complete an e-Learning element prior to the face to face practical training.

Approximately two weeks prior to the course candidates will receive:

  • The ILS course manual and programme in the post, either to your home or work address
  • An email (from a Resuscitation Officer) providing the log in details to access the Resuscitation Council e-Learning Website and how to complete the e-Learning. The e-Learning is via the Resus Council website and not on the Trust’s site. The e-Learning should take approximately one to two hours to complete.

Once the e-Learning has been completed

  • Candidates save an image or print off the certificate as evidence of e-Learning completion to be shown to the instructor on the day. Your course instructor may not allow you to attend the course if you have not completed the e-Learning.

The face to face practical training is now shorter and more time efficient than the full day courses as the candidates have more time for the practical scenarios.

This change only affects the full day ILS courses. The ILS recert and pILS courses will remain in their current format.

For resuscitation course booking staff must continue to follow their normal local process to book training.

Mid Mersey staff already complete the e-ILS course, this is now being extended to the other divisions.
