From Wednesday 19 July, passcode requirements for NHS Smartcards will change as part of a national update to the Care Identity Service (CIS) for health and care staff.
You will only notice this change when the time comes to change or reset your current passcode.
When choosing a new passcode, please ensure that it is not easy to guess and contains 6 to 8 numbers only. Avoid using birthdays and any numbers from your Smartcard. Passcodes will not accept letters or special characters (e.g. !?#_).
