On 30 March, along with Cobalt Housing and Merseyside Police, we hosted a celebration of all the work of the ‘Our Croxteth’ Community funded projects over the last 12 months.
In February 2022, 27 people pitched their ideas to over 200 local residents at St John Bosco to bid for a share of £50,000. The 'Our Croxteth' Community Working Group, made up of passionate local residents, allocated full or part funding to 20 projects, and offered ongoing support to all bidders.
Friday’s showcase welcomed residents, people from the projects, alongside local organisations and representative from the leadership team in Mersey Care, Cobalt Housing and Merseyside Police. The room was adorned with Vision boards created by some of the projects at an event last week visualising the impact of their work locally, such as improving health and wellbeing, reducing social isolation and improving skills and knowledge. We heard wonderful anecdotes of people’s lives who had been changed by interacting with the projects – including a pending marriage of two of the Croxteth Park Sunday walkers!
The legacy of the project has to be the relationships being formed and strengthened, providing greater resilience in the community. Lastly, we also had the opportunity to see the powerful drama piece, supported by 'Our Croxteth', that has been commissioned to go into local schools to promote better understanding of issues around alcohol misuse and effects on lives and families, which brought a tear to the eye.
Happy Birthday Our Croxteth!
