If you access email and Office 365 from a non Trust site:

If you access email or Office 365 from a non trust site (ie: a building that is not recognised as a Mersey Care building such as your home or patients home) then you are required to register for Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). MFA adds an additional layer of security meaning you will have to Approve sign-ins to your account using a mobile device.
You will need to install MFA using your Trust computer and either your work or personal mobile phone by following the instructions below.

If you access email and Office 365 using your own personal device

If you access email or Office 365 using your own personal device, then you are required to register for Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). MFA adds an additional layer of security meaning you will have to Approve sign-ins to your account using a mobile device.
You will need to install MFA using your Trust computer and either your work or personal mobile phone by following the instructions below.

What is Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

Once MFA has been installed and you sign into your email or office 365 account, you will have to verify your account using Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) on your mobile device. Most banks and shopping websites have two-factor authentication and MFA is a method to help better secure access to your email and Microsoft Office 365 services.

Additional security comes from having to approve the sign-in to your account using a mobile device. This way, if an intruder has somehow managed to access your password, they will not be able to access your email, since they will not have your mobile device to approve the sign-in.

Please note:  MFA needs to be installed on devices by 1 December 2021. If you have not installed MFA by this time you will not be able to access email or Office 365.

What you need to do next
In order to complete MFA when prompted, if you haven't already done so, you will need to register to use MFA by installing an app called 'Microsoft Authenticator on your work or personal mobile device. If you don't have access to a mobile device, please email: Office365@imerseyside.nhs.uk
