Each month the Engagement and Experience Team nominate volunteers, a group or team to be put forward for volunteer of the month. This is to thank and recognise their valuable input to enhance services.
Congratulations to St Helens gardening group who won October’s volunteer of the month. The volunteers work all year round and were nominated by Bernadette Millington and received £50 worth of vouchers for the group to spend.
The group is made up of volunteers who have experienced mental health issues. They are supported by staff to build their confidence and reintegrate back into their local community. The gardening gave them sense of purpose and belonging. They are self-funded and arrange many fund-raising activities themselves. They are a great assist to our organisation they keep the grounds of the hospital looking welcoming for people when they are accessing mental health service’s and this is sometimes when they at their lowest point of their lives.
