Accessible Covid resources and guidance for learning disability services

NHS England & Improvement (NHSE&I) have been working with Public Health England and Learning Disability England to develop easy read materials to support the uptake of the COVID-19 vaccination. See below for these updates and resources that are now available:  

• A Covid Vaccine film has been made in collaboration with Skills for People and Learning Disability England. It contains information about the COVID-19 vaccine for people with a learning disability and autistic people.

• Additional training materials for COVID 19 vaccinators and volunteers provides top tips on communicating with people with a learning disability and autistic people and reasonable adjustments that should be considered. This has been shared with Health Education England for onwards dissemination to the COVID workforce (clinical and non-clinical), along with St. Johns Ambulance, Royal Voluntary Service and 119 call centre staff.

Inside is information about the vaccine itself, deciding if vaccination is appropriate, and how to access support and ensure that a vaccine is administered in a way most suitable to the individual with severe learning disabilities.
