This week members of the Respect and Civility group have been promoting the new trust BHAG: Zero tolerance of any disrespectful behaviour. It should be second nature to be kind and caring. However we know that in challenging times, issues can arise and many intolerance issues have been with us for a long time and must be addressed.

From wearing odd socks to being friendly and very visible messengers of our just and learning culture agenda, the team have been busy! They have been – safely - on wards and in offices and workplaces across the Trust. Thank you to colleagues to took part, gave consent and were happy to be seen to join in making a serious message accessible.

Amanda Oates, Executive Director of Workforce, says:

“We’ve heard the voice of our networks and our people and have created a new audacious goal that supports zero acceptance of racism, discriminatory and disrespectful behaviours. Many of you will have read in our People Plan about our Workforce Pillars. These begin with the requirement of the Workforce Racial Equality Standard and the first pillar contains that new BHAG. This has been discussed at Board: it’s a business critical need, it’s also fits in our respect and civility agenda, but most importantly it is absolutely the right thing to do.”

Don’t forget our free and succinct training is available to anyone on our public website. Approximately 1500 - 70% of staff who responded to the health needs assessment feedback that they found the respect and civility online module effective or very effective.
