The Trust has been working towards implementing a single instance of the EPMA and Pharmacy Stock Control System as part of the system harmonisation project. This is the last system where there are currently still two instances of the same system remaining. The Medicines Management Digital and Data team have been working hard to harmonise and upgrade these systems and the latest software update provided by the supplier has gone through rigorous user acceptance testing and is deemed suitable for roll out across the Trust.

The dates of the system go-live are:

  • Tuesday, 18 March 2025 – Pharmacy stock control system will be upgraded and pharmacy will open at 11am
  • Wednesday, 19 March 2025 - Harmonised and single instance of EPMA will go live at 11am

What is required?

All prescriptions prescribed on the current EPMA systems MCTEPMA and NWBEPMA need to be transcribed onto the new system ready for the go live on the 19 March; this transcribing needs to happen by prescribers and must then be verified by a pharmacist to ensure there are no transcribing errors.

The new system will mean that all users are provided with a new username and password, please look out for emails from EPMA@merseycare.nhs.uk for these details.

The Medicines Management Digital and Data team are providing regular updates via the staff newsletters, emails and more information, including videos around the new functionality, can be found on YourSpace.

If anyone has any questions or concerns around this project the team are providing regular Microsoft Teams drop-in sessions every Monday and Thursday at 3pm until the 6 March and a roadshow to provide information on site. You can also email EPMA@merseycare.nhs.uk and a member of the project team will get back to you.

We understand that the transcribing of these prescriptions will cause some inconvenience to services however, the implementation of this new system will improve patient safety, improve reporting capabilities, and remove the unnecessary duplication of tasks.

We thank you in advance for your support with this project and implementation of this new system.
