The eleventh annual NAVAJO Merseyside and Cheshire LGBTIQA Chartermark Awards took place on 6 October 2022. Mersey Care has been awarded the NAVAJO LGBTIQA Chartermark for its commitment to patients, carers and colleagues who identify as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Intersex and non-binary.
Jason Woodruff, Assistant Director of HR, and members of the EDI team and LGBT+ Staff Network received the award on behalf of the Trust. The Trust was the first NHS organisation to obtain the Chartermark in 2011 and has yet again been successfully reaccredited.
This year’s Jane Roden Memorial Unsung Heroes Award went to our very own Jenny Owen, for working tirelessly to champion LGBT+ equality. Jenny has supported the trans community since 2013. In that time she has set up a GP champion service in Sefton and worked on the bid for the CMAGIC clinical service.
