NHS Informatics Merseyside has been made aware of an issue around Clinical System Smartcard authentication.

In certain circumstances, removal of the Smartcard does not terminate the session with clinical application and the next user of the clinical application may reconnect with the previous user’s credentials.

All users are requested to remove their smartcard, then log out of and shut down the clinical application before logging off the computer. This will help ensure IT Security is maintained

We are working with NHS England to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
