Cheshire & Mersey Pressure Ulcer Steering Group have developed a new policy to align to National Wound Care Strategy Programme (NWCSP) guidance which includes changes to the current categorisation of pressure ulcers.

We will be implementing the revised policy on 1 August 2024. In preparation for this, there will be seven education sessions in July available for all staff to book in the prospectus in section 9.

Tissue Viability Nurses will be discussing the changes and the roll out of the new pressure ulcer categories this will involve the removal of the term ‘Deep Tissue Injury’ (DTI) and ’ unstageable pressure ulcer’ and RADAR is currently being updated to accommodate these changes. It is important that all clinical teams are aware of the changes in categorisation and reporting.
