Congratulations to Margaret McGarry (Rita) who took home the Domestic of the Year award from the AHCP (Association of Healthcare Cleaning Professionals. This is is a national organisation recognised for supporting the development of cleaning within the NHS.
Julie Westwell, Facilities Manager, captures Rita's dedication to the NHS below:
"Rita first started working for the NHS 41 years ago as a domestic at the Mossley Hill site. Just prior to the introduction of the Age Discrimination legislation, Rita was one of the members of staff who had to lose her permanent contract as she was 65. Rita loved her job then, as she does now, and decided to carry on working for the Trust via the FMA Bank which she has done ever since, still going strong 13 years later! She is a credit to the Facilities Team. She is hardworking, reliable and very flexible, often filling in shifts for us at Heys Court, Thomas Leigh and Moss House. Even when we can only give her a couple of hours notice and she will hop on a bus to provide the cover. Rita also chose to carry on working throughout the Covid pandemic, in the non-patient areas. We have received emails of recognition from colleagues in our buildings, expressing how grateful they are for her hard work. May she continue to support us for many years to come!
Rita is an inspiration and valued member of our team. This award is well deserved in recognition for all her hard work and dedication to Mersey Care.
Well done Rita!"
