You may have noticed a notification in ESR to set up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) to enhance the security of your account.
Setting up MFA in your ESR account is recommended.
You will be able to use the same Microsoft Authenticator app that you use for your existing NHS Microsoft account. Please read the guidance below.
What is MFA?
MFA adds a second form of authentication, in addition to your username and password, such as a unique code. This provides an additional layer of security to protect your personal data.
What are the benefits of MFA?
- Keeps your personal data in a more protected environment.
- Helps you gain access to your account should you forget your password.
- Provides increased protection against cyber attacks.
-
Checks if an attempt is made to access your account from an unusual location or device.
Set up MFA in ESR
- Sign in to your ESR account at: https://my.esr.nhs.uk
- From the homepage, select ‘Manage Internet Access’ in the top right corner of the page.
- Follow the instructions provided on how to enable MFA in your ESR account. A step by step guide and video are also available.
