To mourn the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, events and gatherings will take place throughout the forthcoming weeks across our communities and our public spaces. We have been sent advice from the Counter Terrorism Policing that the threat we face is significant. Attacks in the UK and Europe are rare, but, can take place at any time, any place, and without warning. Terrorists can target crowded spaces in order to maximise their impact.
The UK current national terrorism threat level is SUBSTANTIAL, which means an attack in the UK is likely requiring a 'Heightened' this means additional and sustainable protective security measures will be in place.
Although there is no specific information to indicate any threat, colleagues are asked to remain vigilant.
The document below outlines:
- Be Informed: useful information and recognition of a threat
- Be Aware: to increase awareness of hostility
- Notify: contact details of local police
- Be Vigilant: what to look out for
- Report: what to do if you are suspicious
- Run, Hide, Tell: what to do in the rare event of an attack.
