The 2019/20 Pensions Annual Allowance Charge Compensation Policy compensates clinicians in retirement for any Pensions Annual Allowance charges they incurred during 2019/20.

This applies where ‘Scheme Pays’ is used to meet those charges as they fall due.

If you have not already done so, applications can be submitted until 31 March 2022.  The application form can be downloaded from NHS England’s website: NHS England » 2019/20 Pensions Annual Allowance Charge Compensation Policy .  These pages also contain more detailed information about the Policy.

When you have completed the application form, please send it to the Pensions Policy team: england.pensionsenquiries@nhs.net. We will confirm by email, after which, you can submit the form to the NHS Business Services Authority. Information about how to submit the form are set out in the application form.

NHS England will accept late applications if due to circumstances outside your control, you don’t have an up-to-date Pensions Savings Statement, or your personal circumstances change as a result of the McCloud remedy.

Once you have the information you need to determine if you are eligible to apply, late applications will be accepted for six months, and as described above you should send your application form to the Pensions Policy team for endorsement before submitting to the NHS Business Services Authority.
