Publish date: 4 January 2022

From 5 January 2022, a PCR self-testing hub is available for staff and their household contacts at the Anita Samuels Centre (health centre) in Huyton. Attendance is strictly on an appointment basis only where a member of staff will bring out the PCR kit and advise where to place it once complete.

Opening hours

The service is open Monday to Friday, 8.20am to 4pm. Demand will be monitored and adjusted accordingly with updates issued via Trust communications.

How to book an appointment

Staff should email: Homeswabbing.team@merseycare.nhs.uk advising that they need a PCR test due to a positive LFD or a household member has tested positive. Include a contact number (ideally a mobile number as results will be returned via this number).

On receipt of your email, the team will contact you to book an appointment and collect basic demographic information. Remember to inform your line manager if you are due in work and are experiencing symptoms or have been a contact of someone who is positive. Household members can be provided with a PCR test if they have a positive LFD and require confirmation. The staff member must email on their behalf.

Results

We’re working closely with laboratories in Whiston Hospital to turn around swab results within 24 hours. You will receive these by text message to your mobile phone. On receipt of your results, please inform your manager at the earliest opportunity to ensure you receive the appropriate support and that continuity of services and safe staffing levels can be managed.
