As a Freedom to Speak Up team (Munawar, Steve, Sue, Julie and Loretta), we can appreciate how difficult it is for someone working in a team to speak up about the negative experiences they have had, seen, or heard. We understand how tough it can be to feel that you will not be seen as part of the team or supported by any one if you speak up even though deep down you feel you should or someone should.

Our experience says that if the person who feels something is wrong does not share their views, then no one will, and things will inevitably get worse and poor practices become the way we do things here.

As a Freedom To Speak Up team, we want to assure you that we will support you and ensure that your experiences are shared in as confidential and safe way as possible. If something feels wrong and you are worrying about it, then please share it with us.

We can help you decide what to do. There are probably more options than you think there are and we can go at your speed. Recent experience has shown us that when one person mentions something, and issues are looked at others often accept that things were wrong and therefore the concerns that you had about the huge upheaval that speaking may cause does not materialise.

Colleagues have recently thanked us for our support, impartiality and have said that they felt really listened too and heard.

Human nature nearly always leads us to think outcomes will be worse than they often are and we as a team will always do our best to make you feel as safe and supported as possible.

Give us a go, please!
