Clinical and therapeutic leads who’ll be leading the new set up at Mossley Hill toured the development yesterday.

Led by service leas Tonia Smith, the team got chance to explore the settings where they will be working next year: “It’s really big and airy!” they said. Comments about their current environments were, um, less flattering! But the team know that the move will enable them to deliver their trademark great care in a much more appropriate setting, one where the use of dormitory wards is finally ended.

Martins Okrunobo, OT, who remembers an earlier move to Clock View in 2015, was on the tour and said he was excited: “Patient experience will really be at its best in this new building,” he said. “I’m so happy to see the environment, spacious rooms and open areas which will really benefit patients.”

There was also a useful away day session hosted by project manager Chantal Lee where concerns about the move, travel and access were discussed. Colleagues from across the division will be visiting in the weeks ahead. Mossley Hill mental healthcare facility will open to patients next autumn but staff will have a period of testing and acclimatisation over the summer after handover from our contractors.
