This policy covers the following key issues: This policy has been updated with key information from Domestic Abuse Act 2021 and The Domestic Abuse Statutory Guidance, issued under this legisation. The Domestic Abuse Act 2021 and the statutory guidance are aimed at statutory and non-statutory bodies working with victims, including children or perpetrators of domestic abuse. It is designed to support organisations, such as the NHS, to identify and respond to domestic abuse, as well as promote best practice. • All Trust staff to have an increased awareness and access to training on domestic abuse and how to respond • Roles, responsibilities and accountability in relation to statutory duties to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and adults where domestic abuse is identified • Enable staff to ask appropriate questions about domestic abuse as part of their assessment process • Enable managers and staff to provide support and guidance to staff and service users who disclose domestic abuse • Ensuring appropriate and effective management of allegations of domestic abuse against a health care professional • Clarity in relation to information sharing • Domestic Abuse Practice Guidance has been issued in Appendix 1 to ensure a standarised response to Domestic Abuse across the Trust footprint, rooted in legislation, statutory guidance, evidence and learning.

MMP11 Discharge Medicines Services SOP
The Discharge Medicines Service enables NHS Trusts to send referrals direct to the nominated community pharmacy of patients who are eligible and would benefit from extra guidance around newly prescribed medicines, including a copy of the patient's discharge prescription, aiming to reduce re-admissions to hospital. The benefits and contribution that assistance dogs, therapy and pet animals offer in enhancing the quality of life and care experience is well documented, especially in mental health. In certain circumstances, animal visits to ward and clinical areas may be allowed if a thorough risk assessment has been undertaken and any identified risks are managed appropriately, as such visits have been shown to have numerous psychological and physical benefits which may outweigh the infection control issues.

MM-SOP-C-001 - 24/7 Mental Health Crisis Line
The crisis telephone pathway will provide 24/7, open access telephone lines for urgent NHS mental health support, advice and triage. In providing an open access service, there should be no restrictions on who can refer as mental health crisis should be self defined. This would include service users currently open to secondary mental health care services. The aim of this crisis line is to ensure that qualified practitioners receiving calls are able, as part of the telephone screening process, to recognise, respond to, formulate and safety plan clinical risk in order to ensure patient safety is a primary objective of the team. The Mental Health Crisis Line will be staffed by Assistant Psychologists from across all Mid Mersey boroughs.
