Clinical ShowcaseReducing Ethnicity Health Inequalities in Mental Health Service -Perinatal Team

The perinatal team joined us last Race Equality Week to share the work they had done around reducing ethnicity health inequalities. This year they are going to give us an update on the project including the findings of their evaluation and the impact of the work done. For more information about the project please see the information below:

The REACH (Race, Ethnicity and Cultural Heritage) workstream is part of the health inequalities work programme in Cheshire and Mersey Specialist Perinatal and Maternal Mental Health Service. It aims to increase access to the service for families from minoritised backgrounds by 1) working with community groups and those from minoritised backgrounds to learn from their experiences, build trust and shared understanding of need; and 2) working with staff within the service to understand the barriers to thinking and talking about race and culture, and taking steps to improve data monitoring in order to effectively shape clinical service delivery in response to local population need. This session will focus on sharing the REACH outputs including Place Based Report model and the impact this has had within their service
